Week 15

On Monday we didn't have class. On Wednesday we present a presentation about "A Christmas Carol", for this, in teams, we chose a topic about it that the teacher gave us and do the presentation; my team chose talk about the present, past and future of Scrooge. On the last day we work on our final project 

Week 14

On monday we saw the movie we chose last week, the winner was "Boy", is a New Zealand movie, the movie tells the story about a kid named Boy who lives in a little town, he lost his mother and, in someway, he lost his father too. When her mother was pregnant of his brother, his father run away and he come back when his wife dies because of the born of his son. Boy was really excited about that because he sees him like a wonderful person, he imagine stories about him and his achievement like when he suppose go to the war and when his only appearance make run away the enemies. Boy follows him everywhere and he expect to be as good as his father. The father has a strong relationship with him in contrast with his brother, Rocky, who barely talks to him because the he doesn’t understand his son. On Wednesday we finished the movie and to a little activity about it. On the last day we work on our final project.

Week 13

On monday we had a quiz about country presentations of last week. On wednesday we worked in paris of three people and did an activity called "Day of Dead", in this activity we need to investigated the meaning of some quotes that the people who speak english (Frist lenguage)say and in the end we did a short story using ten of that quotes. On thursday we didn't need to go to class so I didn't go, we could work in home doing an activity called John Donne, in this activity we read a poem and aswer some questions

Week 12

On Monday I didn't go to the class because the teacher told us isn't going to be class so that class was destined to work on our presentations and my part of the presentations was done so I didnt go.
On Wednesday we listen the presentations of all the teams, in this class my team was chosen to past, our topic was India. and on Thursday we listen the other presentations.

Week 11

On Monday we do a work in pairs about a fragment of a book the teacher told us to read, then on class we answer some questions about it. On Wednesday we sit with our team video members and  we chose a contry where the english is official, on my team we chose India, so we need to find information about it and do a ppt and a hangout to study for the next mega quiz. On the final day we anwer a paper that will count for our final proyect that is about the story of enlish language, so our team chose to talk about the media

Week 9

On Monday the teacher gave us a text in Spanish to translate it in English, our only guide was a dictionary. On Wednesday we read some articles about the Battle of Hastings and do a summary about it and how that affect the English Language. On Thursday one participant of each team come to the other teams to explain the part of the book they read on week 7, and with all this information we do a guide for the exam.

Week 8

On monday we did a work in pairs, we need to find three articles on the digital library, then do a summary of 4 lines and then a conclusion of 250 words. It has a little difficult because the articles I found were so long for the mini summary I did and the conclusion was to long for that summary. On wednesday we brought a book, in which we did a presentation about some pages the teacher told us. On thursday we did a work in pairs, the teacher gave us a paragraph in spanish and we need to translate it in english, then the teacher gave us the paragraph in some kind of english and finally we did a opinion about it and posted it on our blogs

Translation
On February 22 of 1991, the automobile museum opened its doors to the public and finally the dream of some collectors who love their cars and had waited many years for a place to exhibit them and share the beauty of their pieces with the general public, came true.
Now days, a lot of different associations and car clubs of Mexico City participate with the purpose of joining all the amateurs fans, of those cars that by their characteristics deserve to be recognized like history pieces.
The exposition has a permanent character, even though every three months they change approximately 30 cars with the purpose of giving the same opportunity to all the collectors that wish to show their cars and also to have a variety in the museum. The ticket to enter in the museum is to help the maintenance.
The museum counts with the following service: parking, gift shop, car accessories boutique, car rental for weddings and special event, wheel chairs, etc.
The museum has the purpose of showing the advances in the car industry, also to maintain and conserve the old cars. Until today cars have been exhibited that goes since 1904 until 1970, representing the most famous brands like: Alfa Romeo, Packard, Pierce arrow, Rolls Royce and some others.

In conclusion:  The original translation has words that are translated in a literally way so when you read it sounds strange. Our translation has sentences that make more sense because it uses the appropriate words making correct sentences that are easier to understand. In the original translation the sentences have a bad structure; some of them have the predicate before the subject. It also includes abbreviations that shouldn’t be used in a proper paper.

Week 7

On Monday, in pairs, we select a paragraph of any topic about 150 words but we wrote it without any puntiaction marks thus the other person need to write those marks. The next day s lady from scotland came to class to talks us about his country, customs etc. On the last day we did a story about 250 -300 words about some topic the teacher showed us. I chose the topic "Reflections on windows" and I did a horror story

Week 6

This were a short week because We have a day off for Mexico's Independence that's way We had only two days. On wendnesday my team leave beacuse we finish the project and on Thursday We saw the projects of the group. We did a video about different scenes, other team did a video to about an specific scene, and the rest of the group did games about the book (David Copperfield). Our team won 3/4 games

Week 5

This week, on Monday we did something fun, we saw a movie called: "Wall Street" it was about a businessman that do some illegal things to benefit the company of his partner Mr. Gekko. In the end the protagonist is sent to jail.
Then the next class we had a exam about the topic of the movie and about two articles we read for homework.
Finally on the next class we did some research in teams about the cultural differences and similarities on the english

Week 4

This week on Monday We see the videos We did on Friday; for this, we need to rate another team and another team we rate us, etc, they were a very good videos but others not too much.
Then on Wednesday we learn about the life of Charles Dickens, we did a work about his life and his books, we learn a lot about him, how his life is reflected in the books he wrote.
Then on the last day, in teams, we planned what we are going to represent the book "David Copperfieldl" and we decided to do a video

Week 3

This week we learn to write a thesis statement and to refroze it, we need to write a thesis statement for like 10 topics, this activity we do it in pairs, my classmate and I didn’t finish the thesis because we investigate too much and the time runs quickly so we do it for homework.
Then the second day we learn to use conjunctive adverbs and for this, in pairs we use it in a sentence then we did a formal letter use it conjunctive adverbs. It is a useful thing because I always use the same informal adverbs and sometime you need it so is good to know alternatives

Finally on the last day we do a video in teams in which we need to talk about de importance of the English as a Global Language

  1. The school uniforms are important for a school because it represents the school's “spirit”. It makes a sense of belonging, promotes discipline and avoids fashion ideas.
  1. Trust is a fundamental connection between parents and children because it shows the level of maturity, commitment and responsibility of the child.

  1. 33% of teenagers aged between 17 and 24, are most likely to have driving accident under the influence of alcohol because of social pressure, immaturity or depression.  

  1. Some of the reasons of why marihuana should be legalized are that helps the country’s economy, has several medical uses, and decrease drug traffic.

  1. Some matters concerning the protection of animals right have taken a great impact, and that is because people fight against animal testing, animal abuse and illegal hunting.

  1. Some people don´t have other choice than to change to another university, and that depends if it´s from their parents work, an exchange trip or even because they weren't doing good on their previous school

  1. Since 2001 the number of endangered species have increased from 372 to 500. There are many organizations that help in this problem such as World Wildlife Fund, The Sierra Club and National Wildlife Federation
   
  1. Nowadays there is much speculation about the life in other planets. There are many cases without explaining that give us something to think about it like the signal Wow!,

Since the greeks, the art has been transcending with the past of time and to preserve it we have  some famous art museums, such as the Louvre, the Gallery of the Academy of Florence and even the Sistine Chapel on which we can find some paintings and sculptures such as the Monalisa, The creation of Adam and David.

  1. *  To many people the nutritious food is something that they don’t eat, but these people don’t see the advantages of having a healthy life. Nutritious food help us prevent chronic diseases, increase quality of life and have a proper growth and development.

  1.  Living on a campus can be of a great benefit to the student. It can help them by meeting new people, learning new habits, and making themselves more independent.

  1. Gambling can have a bad side effect if it´s not controlled. Depending on the person, the result can be beneficial or it can lead to several problems in the economical, social and personal way.

  1. The technology is a resource that if it is well used, it can bring us several benefits. There are many different ways we can use them to teach new languages like listening to a radio program, watching a foreign film and hearing videos that may improve our pronunciation.

  1. Cosmetic surgery plays a very important role in a lot of famous people around the world. Statistics shows that the five countries who have had the greatest number of esthetic surgeries are South Korea, Greece, Italy, Brazil and Colombia.

  1. Learning another language is something necessary for success. Nowadays is escential to know English .Due to this, language has transcended till becoming a global matter.It also helps you to have more opportunities to find a job, to travel to other countries and to have other means of communication.

Week 2

This week was good, on monday we have a quiz, lucky for me I had free time before this class so I could study more and have more refresh the concepts. The quiz had two simple questions but I knew the answers so was easy and I got 100, then we start working with our speeches, the teacher gave us a list of topics and I choose the more simple for mi "The importance of the tecnology in your life", it was easy but I had to investigate a little of it, the hard part was to memorize the concepts, but again like I said before, lucky for me I had one day more to learn it because I the last one of the list; the speech was okey, I think I spoke to fast like always (I always speak fast and stuttering) but I memorize everything which was a good thing. Finally this week was relaxing we didn't have much homework, was difficult to speak to everyone for the first time but with the time it will become more simple.

My learning experience

The first day of class is an exiciting experience, full of emotions and fears. On my first english class I was very afraid because all the english class I had, there was always a friend who support me and teach me when I need it, but this time I don't know anyone, so the only thought I had on my head was: "I'm going to fail"; of course I was joking, but that's the way I was feeling, I was scared.
Fortunately, I came early to class so I had the chance to meet a girl and make a new friend; also the teacher seems to be a nice person so I wasn't scared anymore, the day end well.
In conclucion I hope to pass a good time in this class, I want to learn, improve my english, don't be afraid to speak it and, of course have a great semester.
